Project Development case studies

One of the most effective tools for evaluating the benefits and drawbacks of various renewable energy technologies and projects is a case study. Public Renewables Partnership has collected an assortment of renewable energy technology and project case studies to assist your consumer-owned utility with evaluating the technology and application before you invest in it. We encourage you to use these case studies and share any case studies you already have with us.

Individual Utility Case Studies are descriptions of United States public utility renewable energy projects, and include project details, successes and challenges.

Case study collections and reports are reports and websites with collections of utility and non-utility case studies and issues related to utility usage of renewable energy.

Technology-specific case study compilations and reports.

  • Wind
  • Solar
  • Geothermal
  • Biomass

Add your case study

Project case studies will be selected based on their energy generation, environmental benefit, unique approach, and benefit to other consumers as an example they can follow.

Guidelines for submitting case studies of public grid-connected renewables installations:

  • Project details (100 words or less). A brief summary of the renewable energy installation supported by your organization, including the generation type, location, installation date and capacity of the installation.
  • Project Goal (50 words or less). What motivated your organization to develop this renewable energy project or program? For example, was a PV installation designed to cut usage during times of peak demand? Was a wind purchase or wind turbine installation motivated by customers' concern for the environment and/or willingness to pay more for it?
  • Project implementation (120 words or less). A detailed description of the project implementation, including key players in the project development and implementation, funding mechanisms used, and any challenges and subsequent successes to the project.
  • Results (100 words or less). Share the environmental, financial, or public relations results of your efforts, and how they helped to achieve your organization's or client's mission.
