Incentives overview

There's an impressive – and bewildering – panoply of public financial support and other programs for new renewable generation. These programs come and go continually, as new approaches and funds are introduced, modified and cancelled. Some depend on annual appropriations processes, and as a result, suffer from fluctuating funding levels. Rules for eligibility and applications procedures vary considerably across programs.

Fortunately for renewables, there already exists a single information source on incentives for renewable generation that is comprehensive, nicely organized and up-to-date. The DSIRE Web site is a compelling example of what the Web can offer, and should be the first and frequent stop for those seeking funding information.

The 2005 Energy Policy Act has created many tax incentives for both end-users and renewable energy developers to encourage the development of clean energy technologies. We've assembled some informational resources on these benefits for you below:
