Wind Powering America sponsors webcast for Ag industryJuly 24, 2008 The third in a series of webcasts for the agricultural community sponsored by Wind Powering America will take place Thursday, July 24, at noon Eastern Daylight Time. The Energy/Water Nexus: A case study of the Arkansas River Basin, presented by Stacy Tellinghuisen of Western Resource Advocates, will last about one hour. A half-hour question-and-answer period will follow the presentation. Using the Arkansas River Basin in Colorado and Western Kansas as a case study, Tellinghuisen will examine future water demands under "business as usual" and several alternative development scenarios. Midwestern Wind Energy: Moving It to MarketsJuly 31–Aug. 1, 2008 The Midwest Governors Association (MGA) invites policymakers, energy industry professionals, government agencies and others interested in Midwest wind development to attend "Midwest Wind Energy: Moving it to Markets." This meeting will focus on wind and transmission issues relevant to the Midwest, including the following topics:

Still time to register for second geothermal workshop Aug. 11-12 If you missed the Geothermal Technologies workshop at TriState Generation and Transmission in Westminster, Colo., you have a second chance to learn about integrating this resource into your utility's portfolio. Western Area Power Administration, Bonneville Power Administration and the U.S. DOE GeoPowering the West initiative will present another workshop at Snohomish Public Utility District in Washington state Aug. 11-12. The workshop is sponsored by American Public Power Association, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and the Utility Geothermal Working Group. Snohomish PUD is hosting the event at its Everett, Wash., headquarters. The workshop agenda is tailored to utility professionals who are interested in learning about geothermal technologies—including heat pumps and geothermal power production—who want to compare resource options and who want to improve on existing programs. Registration fees are $90 for one day or $130 for two days. Reduced rates are available for members or customers of sponsoring organizations. Green power financial opportunities available on EERE Web siteThe U.S. DOE EERE Green Power Network now posts solicitations for renewable energy generation, renewable energy certificates and green power on its Web site. Visitors can also sign up to receive e-mail updates about new green power RFPs. The RFPs and solicitations are from private organizations and are not endorsed by the Green Power Network. PBS program looks at solar power"Saved by the Sun" is an hour-long program presented by Nova. The program is divided into six chapters that can be viewed online with Windows Media Player or QuickTime. Classroom resources and program transcripts are also available.
